Instagrammable Homemade Vegan Pizza Recipe with Red Wine
Oh my God! Yes! Finally, a homemade vegan pizza recipe for everybody! What’s more interesting is that we added PairME’s “The Wine for Pizza” to the recipe, a perfect combination right?
First, we’ll have the recipe for vegan pizza sauce which will only take about 35 minutes to prepare and cook, then we’ll make 12-inch vegan pizza dough for about 40 minutes.
The Vegan Pizza Sauce
Ingredients
1 can of tomatoes (diced for blending)
1 tbsp onion powder (or fresh onion, whichever you prefer)
1/4 tsp Oregano (dried)
1/4 tsp Thyme (dried)
1/2 tsp kosher salt (add more to taste)
Fresh basil
Fresh garlic (about 3 gloves)
Half cup of PairME’s “The Wine for Pizza”
Instructions
Combine tomatoes, basil, onion, garlic, oregano, thyme and salt and blend on low until the basil leaves and garlic cloves are small little bits
Add PairME’s “The Wine for Pizza”, blend again for about 1 minute
Transfer to a pot over medium heat and bring to a bubble
Lower to a simmer and cook uncovered until thick (about 20 minutes)
Transfer to a bowl or a jar for storing
The Vegan Pizza Dough
Ingredients
1 cup warm water
2 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 teaspoon organic sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoon olive oil - to brush on the crust before pre-bake
2 tablespoon vegan butter - to brush on the crust after pre-bake
Your favorite pizza toppings
instructions
Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar and stir together for 10 minutes, it should become foamy. If it’s not foamy, then the yeast might not be fresh or the water is not warm enough
Combine salt and oil and stir together.
Add in flour ½ cup at a time.
Knead until it forms into a ball. If it's far too sticky, add more flour at a time until it comes together.
Continue to knead for 5 minutes.
Place the dough into a large bowl with a bit of grease. Cover with a towel and put it in a warm location for 1 hour to let it rise until it doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 230 degrees Celcius (450 degrees Fahrenheit)
Make the dough smooth and firm by kneading it again.
Making the Vegan Pizza
Sprinkle flour on the surface and roll out the dough
Transfer the dough to the floured pizza pan and spread the dough to fit the edges of the pan
Brush the dough with 2tbsp of olive oil
Poke the dough with a fork to prevent it from puffing up
Pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes in 230 degrees Celcius oven (until the bottom begins to brown)
Brush the crust with melted vegan butter
Add the vegan pizza sauce and your choice of toppings
Bake all together for another 15 minutes under 230 degrees Celcius until the crust becomes golden brown and your toppings are cooked
Serve and enjoy!
This recipe makes 12-inch of vegan pizza with a thick crust, if you want to have thin-crusted pizza you need to use a bigger pan.
